Food booth in Liberec ZOO

The children’s play area in Lidové sady at Liberec ZOO provides an outlet for children outside the premises of the ZOO. The children’s facility had an old and inadequate food booth building, which had to be removed and replaced with a new one.

The new building provides full facilities for the food booth and its employees and also contains a storage space for the maintenance of the play area. It also caters to runners who start their sports activities in the nearby forest.

The building is a timber-framed structure with a distinctive white attic, which sets it clearly against the background of greenery of the forest. Horizontal timber cladding emphasizes the building’s prolonged shape and visually lowers the structure.

The structure has a green roof and uses excess rainwater for irrigation. It is heated by an air-to-air heat pump, which was the best choice for a building of this size.

The food booth can cater to customers on both sides, thanks to strip windows at the front and back as well.

The covered patio for visitors is equipped with etagere plant pots to educate visitors about the different plants to be grown at home and in the garden.
